SUBJECT: iPad 3 quad-core processor c
LOCATION: HK,
The case for a quad-core iPad 3 has been strengthened immeasurably by a most unlikely source – Apple itself. Read on to find out more.
Most commentators have been expecting a quad-core iPad 3 all along. This doesn’t suggest a great deal of vision or inside information – it’s simply the most logical conclusion. Here’s why.
The first iPad had a single-core A4 processor. The iPad 2 had a dual-core A5 processor. It stands to reason, then, that the iPad 3 would feature a quad-core A6 processor. This is particularly likely when you consider that there’s already a quad-core Android tablet on the market in the shape of the Asus Transformer Prime.
Still, reports last month that Apple was testing both dual and quad-core configurations for its next generation iPhone sparked the merest hint of doubt. Would Apple simply go with a more advanced dual-core solution for its 2012 devices? After all, it’s been rumoured that chief rival Samsung might be doing just that.

As mentioned at the outset, though, a fresh piece of evidence would appear to confirm that Apple’s going quad-core in 2012. Over at 9 to 5 Mac, they’ve uncovered mention of a quad-core processor from the latest beta version of iOS 5.1.
Buried deep within the beta (which is available only to app developers) is a piece of processing-core management software, and it seems to have been updated with a new ‘/cores/core.3′ configuration option. Apparently, ‘/cores/core.0′ stands for a single-core processor, while ‘/cores/core.1′ actually means dual-core. This means ’/cores/core.3′ stands for quad-core.
So, it looks like Apple’s equipping its next iOS build – which you’d assume would be released to coincide with a typical early-in-the-year iPad launch – with support for quad-core architecture. That’s the biggest hint yet that we can indeed expect the iPad 3 to continue the (admittedly short-lived) tradition of doubling up on processor cores for every iteration.Designer iPhone 4 cases
